You heard right, the student magazine which proudly holds a number of awards, The Magdalen, is hiring! We are looking for passionate, dedicated and enthusiastic students for multiple roles within our team.

We are looking for two dedicated individuals to join our senior editorial team. If you have experience of writing or editing and would like to develop your managerial skills, this could be the job for you! You would be involved with the day to day running of the magazine and helping our section editors and writers with content generation. This role further allows for valuable input and contribution to the direction and look of the magazine from issue to issue.
If successful, you will be supporting Section Editors, guiding their ideas and demands, as well as you should be comfortable using social media, including Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and live streaming (Live streaming training will be provided) as a means of content delivery.
Above all, Deputy Editors must have the professionalism, ambition and readiness to learn that our readers expect. You will work alongside a dedicated team who will mutually support and motivate each other throughout.
Have a particular passion? Want to write AND help guide the Magazine’s direction for the next year? Then why not take over a section! Our section editors form the backbone of our editorial team. You will be in charge of sourcing and initial proofreading of stories from Magdalen’s contributors and reporters to your section. We are always looking to expand our market, so if you think you can work with potential Ad space clients, local businesses and distributors, apply now! Working closely with the Editorial team, you will gain crucial experience in managing the business side of a creative/media operation. Understanding of marketing, B2B relations and an outgoing personality is what we’re looking for!
Bit of a perfectionist? Perfect! Because The Magdalen are looking for a team of gifted editors to make sure the Magazine reads well and makes sense. If you know you are organised, have a good eye for detail abd would like to give a little extra to the Magazine, then you could be perfect for one of the most important roles we have on offer. If the typo in the previous sentence drove you a little mad, then you might already have what we’re looking for.
Social Media Manager
Who said maintaining that Instagram theme while handling a steady pace of 5 tweets a day was never going to pay off? If you think you’ve got what it takes to raise online engagement of The Magdalen, promote our brand, and spread the word wide and loud, all the while refining a user-friendly aesthetics of our online profile, hesitate no more! Previous experience in social media, online engagement, or creative sector are welcome, as well as showcasing an online portfolio would be preferable, but not a must. Convince us in 140 characters that you are who we’re looking for, and you won’t need any of the above!
